Nineteen of Network Rail’s managed stations across the UK have received a boost in Wi-Fi connectivity for passengers.
Clapham Junction, London Bridge and London Victoria are among the stations to benefit from the upgrade. Wi-Fi services were identified as a key priority for passengers in the 2019 National Rail Passenger Survey. This prompted a programme to install the required infrastructure for connectivity for station users. The final switch on over the Christmas period marked the completion of the £28 million investment.
The latest technology, including WiFi 6, has been used to future-proof the service, and average download speeds are reported to be faster than most home broadband services.
