An idol of the Hindu God Shiva has been placed inside the chapel in the East Surrey Hospital.
The antique statue weighing 37kgs was sourced from India and was transferred to England after fundraising made it possible. The chaplaincy and spiritual care team have been involved throughout this process, helping colleagues to instate the idol.
The East Surrey Hospital chapel is open 24 hours a day and is located near the East Entrance. It is a quiet and peaceful space for colleagues, patients and visitors of all faiths – and none.
