A total of 54 people are due to appear in court to face criminal charges following protests at junctions off the M25 in Surrey last year.

Police made several arrests after protesters blocked various junctions stopping traffic.

A total of 131 charges are in place, where all those involved have been summoned to attend hearings at Crawley Magistrates’ Court from next month.

Most of the individuals have been charged with obstruction of the highway, but further charges have been brought against 11 protesters for either criminal damage or possession of a bladed article.
