West Sussex firefighters have issued a stark reminder on the dangers deliberate fires can have after tackling more than 60 such fires last month.
Despite temperatures declining since the heatwave, the ground is still extremely dry, and they strongly advise that people refrain from starting fires outdoors.
In the current conditions, fires can spread quickly to nearby undergrowth, or buildings and property.
The Fire and Rescue Service say, intentionally starting a fire is a dangerous act and will often involve some form of punishment from the law.
