Local Football Update

In League 2, Crawley Town won 3-0 over Harrogate on Saturday.  The much needed three points have lifted the Reds a little closer to safety but they remain in the relegation zone.

Dorking Wanderers lost their National League match 3-1 away to Notts County.

Merstham won 2-0 over Ashford Town.  A couple of successive wins have helped the Moatsiders climb to 17th place in the Isthmian South Central Division.  

In the South East Division, Three Bridges drew 1-1 away to Sittingbourne, and East Grinstead lost 5-0 away to top of the table Ramsgate.

Meteoroid Seen Over Sussex

Did you see a big flash in the skies in the early hours of Monday morning?

A 1m long meteoroid entered the Earth’s atmosphere over the English Channel and could be seen across Sussex.

One person who witnessed the event took to Twitter saying it “lit up the sky with a pink flash which was spectacular.”

The International Meteor Organization based in Belgium, said the object would have entered around two and a half miles from the French coast, creating a “fireball” effect.

Crawley Question Time Returning

Crawley’s Question Time is coming back for another year, giving residents an opportunity to ask questions about topics important to them.

The annual event takes place on Wednesday 15 March from 7-9pm in the new Town Hall.

There won’t be any set topics for the debate, so anyone attending can raise any areas or concerns for discussion.

Housing Support For Drug & Alcohol Recovery In West Sussex

Crawley MP Henry Smith has welcomed news of a one point three-million-pound investment from the Government, to improve housing support for drug and alcohol recovery in West Sussex.

Around 28 local authorities across England have been allocated funds for the project totalling £53 million pounds.

The money will be used to support a range of projects over the next three years such as training to help those dealing with trauma, as well as a women’s-only housing for those who have experienced domestic violence.
