Sussex Police has surpassed its target as part of a national campaign to recruit more police officers.
The force was required to bolster its ranks from 2,737 officers to over 3,000 as part of Uplift – the drive to recruit an additional 20,000 police officers across the country.
As of March 2023, there were 3,194 officers working for Sussex Police – 28 over the target.
The force now has an additional 457 officers compared with the baseline figure in April 2019.
