Susy Radio has been shortlisted in the 2023 Community Radio Awards.
The station has made the shortlist, which was whittled down from entries from stations from every corner of the UK.
Susy Radio has picked up a nomination in the Special Category, “HM Queen Elizabeth II – Her life, Her Reign, and her Passing”, with special local news bulletin which was produced and presented by Tracey Franklin.
The Local News Special was broadcast on Monday 12th September, four days after the Queen passed away.
Tracey Franklin, who prepares and presents the Monday editions of Susy Radio local news, had collected both new and archive material over days prior to the broadcast, to bring to the listeners a special news bulletin from a local angle showing the Queen’s connection to East Surrey and North Sussex.
This year Tracey is celebrating 40 years since she first started in radio (at a very young age, she says!), and although she had a break from radio for around 20 years during that time, is pleased to have found radio again and has been a member of the Susy Radio local news team for 8 years.
The winners will be revealed in a ceremony in Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 4th November.
The team at Susy Radio is delighted to have been recognised among a large number of other stations doing great work across the UK.
