Nearly 500 tree were planted at Tilgate Park recently when Crawley Borough Council ran a planting event open to the public.

Dozens of people joined council staff and politicians and Sussex Police officers at the event.

13 species were planted on land that was originally used for animal grazing.

Funding for the extensive planting has come from payments to improve local services and environment made by developers.
