The public and staff have been thanked by bosses of East Surrey hospital after a critical incident due to a power failure on Monday was stood down.

The incident was declared after an outage impacted its intensive care and high dependency units.

Patients from the affected wards were moved elsewhere in the hospital.

While the hospital remained open throughout, patients were asked to use other services where possible.
