General Election polling centre moved after migrants refuse to leave

A group of migrants have refused to leave a temporary rest centre, resulting in a general election polling centre in Crawley being moved.

The council opened a rest centre for the group from the Chagos Islands , first at K2 Leisure Centre and then at Northgate Community Centre – although they were meant to have left by now.

As a result residents will now vote in today’s general election at St Elizabeth’s Church.
