Gatwick Airport is trialling new Smart Stand technology to manage aircraft turns.
The trial is being run with easyJet and allows aircraft turns to be performed from a central control room, record turn events automatically and apply AI when the plane is ready to leave.
The Airport says the Smart Stand can improve turn around time and maintain punctuality, by enabling jet bridge operators to manage aircraft turns without having to attend every arriving aircraft.
The first live trial took place in May and is expected to run until next summer.
