A 75 year old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after police were called to a shop in Crawley yesterday afternoon (Sunday 6th September)

A mother noticed a man acting suspiciously around her four-year-old daughter in the Pegler Way branch of Asda around 12 noon.

She intervened and the man ran off but he was caught by security staff and remains in police custody.

The girl suffered no physical injuries, but arrangements are being made for her to talk to specialist officers.
