Surrey County Council’s Cabinet has approved two school expansion projects for the East Surrey area.
St Bede’s School will be expanded to create 300 extra secondary school places in the Redhill area.
Chart Wood School in Merstham will operate from a single site in Dorking in a new purpose built building.
Chart Wood’s Merstham site has been earmarked for a new free school catering for 900 secondary pupils to meet growing demand for places in Redhill and Reigate. The Department for Education is currently considering a further proposal to open a 420 pupil primary on the same site.
