At Thursday’s Full Council meeting, Tandridge District councillors voted to take forward a regeneration programme for Oxted Town Centre, supported by income from parking charges.  

A consultation on all aspects of the Regeneration Oxted programme will begin on 25th May.   A petition with almost 5,500 signatures in favour of two hour free parking, was presented to the Council Leader.  An amendment was proposed for two hours free parking but this was lost by 26 votes to 13.  

Running the car parks currently cost the Council over £120,000 a year.
