A lorry driver has been given a 2-year suspended sentence and disqualified from driving for 5-years following an accident which killed an 82-year-old woman in Lingfield.
66-year-old Paul Russell was legally on the phone using his handsfree at the time when he went through a red light on the A22 Eastbourne Road and hit the Jill Turk’s car.
Judge Roger Chapple, said Russell being on the phone must’ve been an influencing factor in causing the accident.
