At their meeting on Tuesday 11th Feb, Surrey County Council confirmed a 1.99% council tax rise even though 2.5% was needed.
The County Council leader David Hodge said that a rise of any more than 1.99% would result in a referendum, costing Surrey taxpayers as much as £2 million.
The 1.99% rise means that the council will not be able to address every issue in Surrey, but they say that they’ll still provide a good service to the areas that residents say matter most to them.
