Bicycles left at local stations to be renovated and given to key workers

Abandoned bicycles across the local rail network are to be renovated and made available for key workers.

Govia Thameslink which runs Southern has teamed up with repair firm Handlebars to make the abandoned bikes available.

It estimates around 20 unclaimed bikes arrive at its maintenance depot each month in Horsham.

The rail operator is asking councils, NHS trusts and hospitals to get in touch to let them know who may want one.
