Tandridge residents and businesses are urged to be vigilant when employing traders to dispose of their waste, or risk a fixed penalty fine of £400.

The Council are making a drive to ensure that proper steps are being taken, to ensure that all waste is disposed of correctly.

Apart from being a blight on the environment, fly tipping is expensive for the taxpayer who ultimately pays for it to be cleared up.

In Surrey, 100% of fly tipping offenders who go to court are convicted, with punishments resulting in fines of up to £50,000 or 12 months in prison.
