213 additional specialist school places  are being invested by Surrey County Council in order to save children having to make excessively long journeys for school.

At the moment the council is spending £41m a year on school travel for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

A further £36m will be invested to ensure children will receive a wider choice of local schools, receive their education closer to home, reduce travel time and costs
