East Grinstead Rugby club is asking people to nominate its coach Matt Ratana who died following a shooting in Croydon for BBC Sports Personality of the Year’s Unsung Hero award.

It’s given to volunteers who’ve had a positive impact on local sports with the club saying it would be a fitting tribute to the 54-year-old police officer.

A man is currently on bail until late October while detectives investigate the incident which happened at a custody centre.
