A man touched himself indecently in front of a female passenger and then assaulted an off-duty police officer on a train from Redhill to London Bridge on Saturday.
The man sat opposite the woman in the otherwise empty carriage and began touching himself.
He was confronted by an off-duty officer at Coulsdon station as he got off the train but assaulted her before fleeing by jumping over the ticket barriers.
The officer attended hospital but was not seriously injured. Police believe the man is linked to a number of other incidents of enraging public decency on the trains.
They have now released CCTV footage of people they would like to speak to in relation to the incident, which took place on the 8.39pm train from Redhill.
