Four people were arrested during a day of police action in Crawley, including one man caught driving with thousands of pounds worth of Cannabis.
An officer stopped a vehicle on the M23 shortly before 2pm on Saturday and found six vacuum packed bags of herbal cannabis with a street value of £20,000.
In an unrelated incident, two 15-year-old boys were arrested after fleeing from officers in Memorial Gardens. They were later found, along with a discarded backpack containing empty deal bags and a hammer.
Elsewhere, a 30-year-old Crawley man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. He was stopped and failed a roadside drugs test after officer smelled cannabis.
The two boys and the 30-year-old man, whose incidents were not related, have all been released pending further enquiries.
The driver stopped on the M23 was remanded to appear in court on Monday.
Police Sergeant Elizabeth Reschwamm said: “We are taking robust action to help keep our communities safer.
“Carrying weapons is extremely dangerous and although some people may carry them to feel safer – it actually puts you at more risk of coming to harm.
“We will continue to address these issues through our days of targeted action and by engaging with the public to raise awareness.
“Anyone with information or concerns is asked to make the right call and report it to us online or by calling 101.”
