Crawley Town opened the new season’s league campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Hartlepool United at Victoria Park. 

After 123 years as a non-league club, Sutton United played their first League 2 match on Saturday with some disappointment losing 2-1 away to Forest Green Rovers.

Some of our local teams saw FA Cup action on Saturday in the Extra Preliminary round draw.

Redhill are through to the next round after winning 3-0 away to CB Hounslow.  Horley Town lost 5-0 away to Kennington FC.  East Grinstead are also out of the Cup losing 2-1 at home to Alfold.

The National League South and Isthmian League campaigns for the new season start on Saturday.
