A post-Covid Intensive Care follow up clinic at East Surrey Hospital has won a quality improvement award.
Staff who implemented a multidisciplinary team (MDT) follow-up clinic for patients, have won a Kent, Sussex and Surrey Respiratory Collaborative Quality Improvement Project Award. The clinic was set up during the first wave of the pandemic for patients recovering from Covid 19, three months after leaving hospital. Patients could see clinical specialists while also receiving a lung function assessment and X ray in one afternoon, removing the need for multiple appointments.
An intensive care follow-up team has been in place at the Hospital since 2011, but Covid 19 gave the opportunity for an MDT approach for better patient care.
