A thief was caught after stealing a car while high on drugs and alcohol before trying to flee from police on foot while not wearing any shoes.

The individual, who had just stolen a Range Rover in Caterham, was spotted by officers speeding round a roundabout at about 2am on Tuesday.

After fleeing from the scene, he dumped the car and tried to escape on foot, leaving his phone and personal details in the stolen car.

He was caught in Caterham and arrested on suspicion of theft, criminal damage, dangerous driving, possession of Class A drugs and driving while under the influence.
