The pop-up restaurant celebrates both Syrian culture and food, cooked by the local Syrian community. They will cook a three-course meal and provide soft drinks.
The money raised will support 20 families that have resettled in Surrey over the past six years. Funding will go to projects aimed at increasing skills, work experience and job opportunities.
Since 2015, these 20 Syrian families have been helped to resettle into the area through the Government’s 2015 Global Resettlement Scheme and a partnership between Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, Tandridge District Council and Mole Valley District Council.
After two sell-out evenings took place in 2019, the Harlequin has finally been able to welcome back this popular evening.
The event’s doors open at 6:30pm to welcome attendees and bring all local communities together.
Members of the upcoming feast said; “When we prepare these dishes, we remember what we left behind and the friends and families with whom we used to enjoy these meals. Now we share them with new friends.”
Although the tickets are all sold out, a recipe book, A Syrian Feast, is now available to buy for £5 at the Harlequin Theatre. It features 17 easy-to-follow recipes generously shared from the homes of resettled families in the area.
