It’s been estimated that the cost to Surrey Police who dealt with Insulate Britain protesters two months ago is around £110,000
The protesters wanted the government to tackle the climate crisis by insulating homes and cutting emissions.
Over a period of four days, they blocked several key transport links across the county, including the M25, resulting in 130 arrests.
To deal with the issue, police staff worked over 4000 hours in overtime and are continuing to collate evidence, including witness statements and CCTV footage, as part of their ongoing investigation.
