Four people have been charged following protests at Clacket Lane and Cobham motorway services last Thursday.
Three people from Brighton and one from London were charged with causing criminal damage of over £5,000. They appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Friday and were released on police bail with conditions imposed by the Court. The protesters from the group, Just Stop Oil, glued themselves to the pumps and to forecourt signs and vehicles at the two motorway services sites. Significant damage was caused to the pumps on both forecourts with a total of 35 pumps damaged at Cobham Services, and 20 pumps damaged at Clacket Lane. Around 40 police officers were in attendance.
A further four people have been released under police bail and an additional 27 are still under investigation.
