A man has been fined a total of £1,660 at Crawley Magistrates’ Court after fly-tipping was discovered next to garages in Ifield.

Robbie Burchell answered a Facebook request from a company in Langley Green, who needed assistance in removing rubbish from their premises. He was paid by the company to collect the rubbish and dispose of it.

Council workers identified the company from documents that were in the rubbish and set up an investigation to trace the source of the offence.

The case went to court whereby Mr Burchell was ordered to pay a £600 fine, plus costs of £1,000 and a victim surcharge of £60.
