A local bid for funding through the Government’s Levelling Up Fund has been unsuccessful.
Tandridge District Council had applied for £8.7 million of funding to regenerate Caterham, boost the economy and introduce flood alleviation measures in the town. The Leader of the Council, Catherine Sayer, said she is disappointed and will consider another bid when the third round of funding is confirmed.
In the South East, six projects were awarded funding; all of which were in Kent and Sussex. Successful bids included £45 million to improve the flow of traffic from the UK to the EU at the Port of Dover, and £19 million towards the transformation of the De La Warr Pavilion on Bexhill seafront.
