Students from Crawley College have successfully completed West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service’s IGNITE programme, which helps young people who struggle with low self-esteem.
The five-day course covers a range of activities including drills, running out and using hose reels, and putting up ladders. Students also learn about the physicality of being a firefighter and the importance of nutrition.
A special pass out parade was held to celebrate the students’ achievements on last Friday (21 April) at Crawley Fire Station.
West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service’s Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Peter Rickard and the High Sheriff of West Sussex, Mr Andy Bliss presented the young people with their medals and certificates.
