Nominations for this year’s Reigate & Banstead Sports Awards are now open.
Residents are encouraged to nominate local people, teams, clubs, coaches or volunteers that they feel deserves recognition for their sporting contribution.
The awards recognise performance and dedication to sport in the borough for the period between 1 January and 31 December 2023. They are part of the Council’s strategy to promote active sport and encourage physical wellbeing.
Cllr Rod Ashford, Executive Member for Communities, Leisure, and Culture said: “We believe sport is an essential ingredient in creating and sustaining healthy communities.
“These awards are important, because they recognise the commitment of everyone involved in sport in our communities from those who play sport to those who coach sport and from volunteers to caregivers and parents.
“I really hope everyone will take this opportunity to nominate those individuals or groups who do so much to promote health and wellbeing through sport in our community.”
There are 11 categories this year:
• Volunteer of the Year
• Young Volunteer of the Year
• Changing Lives Award
• Sports Person of the Year
• Young Sports Person of the Year
• Coach of the Year
• Club of the Year
• Team of the Year
• Junior Team of the Year
• Senior Citizen Award
• Inclusive Sport Award.
How to nominate
Nominees must reside or be part of a club within the borough and nominations can be in as many categories, as long as the nomination meets the agreed criteria.

The deadline for submitting nominations Sunday 28 January 2024.
Shortlisted nominees and their nominators will be invited to a prestigious awards ceremony evening event scheduled for Thursday 14 March 2024.
