A “Warm Spaces” scheme is being offered to residents in Dorking.
Those who have been affected by the cost-of-living crisis can now go to the town’s sports centre where they can get a warm drink, comfortable seating, a fresh shower and WiFi.
Social Enterprise GLL who operate the “Better Brand” also have plans to extend the idea elsewhere.
In 2022 according to a government report, it was estimated that 13.4% of households were living in poverty, with energy prices now standing at an average of £1928 per year.
The warm hub at the Sports Centre, in Reigate Road, runs from 7am to 7pm every Sunday.
