Firefighters were called to an out of control bonfire in Crawley last Thursday (4 June)
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service attended the fire in the front garden of a house in Kelmscott Rise, Broadfield around 4pm. They managed to extinguish the bonfire within 30 minutes.
The service took the opportunity to remind people that you can’t get rid of household waste by burning it if it’s likely to cause pollution or noxious fumes. It’s far better to recycle or compost where possible – the local council is there with advice should you need any.
