East Grinstead Drink Driver

A man’s been charged with various driving offences after being stopped near Gatwick airport with no lights on.

Police tried to stop his van shortly before midnight on Saturday (August 30) but it drove off and after being followed and colliding with another vehicle, it was stopped on the A264 going towards East Grinstead. The people in the other car received minor injuries.

Brett Stonestreet, a fork lift truck driver from East Grinstead has been charged with the vehicle theft, drink driving, driving without a licence and insurance and failing to stop for a police officer.

He’ll appear at Crawley Magistrates Court on September 17.

Missing Persons

A missing girl from Crawley has been found and returned to her home.

Lacey Easen,  15,  was found in the early hours of this morning (September 1) safe and well.

Members of the public and media are thanked for their help.

Meanwhile,  a  missing 39 year old man from Reigate had been found safe and well.

Chris Browne was found in Dorking on Friday afternoon.

Flood Protection Funding

If the inside of your home or business was damaged by flooding last winter, there’s still time to apply for funding from Surrey County Council to help protect your property from the risk of future flood damage.

Funding of up to £5,000 is available for flood protection measures, and applications must be submitted by the end of this month  (30 September)

Repair and Renew Grants are available to anyone whose home or business was internally damaged by flooding between 1 December 2013 and 31 March 2014.

Weekend Football

In League one, ten-man MK Dons followed up their League Cup win over Manchester United with a 2 nil victory over Crawley Town.

In the FA Cup preliminary round, both Merstham who beat Ringmer four nil and South Park, who overcame Thamsmead Town by two goals to one — progress to the next round. Redhill face a replay after a nil nil draw with Horsham YMCA.
