More Cash to Support Families in Surrey

Surrey is being given more money from the Government to help support families who need it most.

The cash comes after the county council was rewarded as being among the best at helping people to change their lives around.

Clare Curran, Cabinet Associate for Children, Schools and Learning, says: “Surrey’s Family Support programme is all about transforming lives blighted by crime, domestic abuse or unemployment, but the work will benefit all taxpayers in the county by reducing these families’ reliance on public services in the future.”

Crawley Town Result

Last night’s match between Crawley Town and Bradford at the Broadfield stadium ended in a 3-1 defeat for The Reds.

The visitors went ahead early in the second half with a goal from Hanson and Crawley replied on 54 minutes with a goal from Walsh. But further goals from Knott and Bennett ensured a comfortable victory for Bradford ending Crawley’s winning run.

They’re now 7th in League One.

Unhappy Greens

The Green Party are not happy about a solar farm near Reigate which would create electricity for three-thousand-five-hundred homes.

The application for the 60 acre solar farm was put forward by Southern Solar Ltd but Green councillor, Jonathan Essex says he’s not backing the farm as it would be on greenbelt land.

Although the Green Party supports Solar energy Mr Essex says that the location needs to be appropriate.

East Grinstead Robbery and Carjacking

Police are renewing their appeal for anyone who witnessed a robbery and carjacking in East Grinstead last Thursday to come forward.
Two men were assaulted and robbed of a valuable watch, and when the thieves failed to escape on a stolen Yamaha motorcycle, they forced another man from his car and drove off.

The Ford Mondeo was found a little later in a rural car park in Rabies Heath Road between South Godstone and Bletchingley in Surrey.

Detective Inspector Mark Cullimore says that the Mondeo was seen smoking slightly as it had been driven fast and hard.

Two black men got out of the car and got into a black BMW that had been waiting in the car park with a driver at the wheel.

Police think that the crime was well planned and describe the two suspects as in their late teens to early 20s, 5-foot 10″, with short hair and wearing all black. One of them was seen to be carrying a knife at the time of the robbery.
