Flood Repairs in Surrey

Surrey County Council has announced that it is spending an extra £23 million on repairing damage to the roads and bridges caused by flooding.

David Hodge says that the council will be investing in resurfacing 160km of roads, removing another 20,000 potholes and fixing approximately 30 damaged bridges.

£2 million is said to be invested into improving the county’s drainage systems.

The council are undertaking this reparation work on top of the work they are doing on Surrey Roads as part of operation horizon and say that this work will not be compromised by the new projects.

Boy to Appear in Court after Crawley Burglaries

A 16-year-old boy is due to appear in court charged with stealing a car and two counts of burglary.

Both burglaries took place at night in Crawley between the 29 and the 30 April.

During the first burglary a laptop computer and the keys to a Toyota Auris were stolen, which were then used to take the vehicle without consent. The car was later found parked in Lancelot Close, Ifield.

During the second burglary two laptops, paperweights and kitchen knives were stolen.

Sussex Police have launched Operation Magpie to tackle burglary across the county.

The teenager is due to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 13 May.

Accident Woman Discharged

A woman who was taken to after being involved in a fatal road collision in Reigate was discharged yesterday.

An air ambulance was called to the scene on Reigate Road at 3.45 pm on Bank Holiday Monday, after a Honda motorcycle and a silver Ford car collided.

A 45-year-old man believed to be the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the 44-year-old woman was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill to be treated for leg wounds.

Tandridge Skate Park

Tandridge District Council is using funding from a new development to replace Mill Lane skate park in Hurst Green after it was vandalised last year

Gravity Skate Parks will be constructing the new park expected to cost £50,000 and work is due to start on 9 June and is expected to take a month.

The council has been working with the Surrey Police Safer Neighbourhood team and Crime Prevention advisor on a design and management plan that will ensure that anti-social behaviour at the site is reduced and those using it are clearly visible.
