Local Burglaries

Communities in East Surrey are being urged to stay vigilant following two burglaries this week.

Both incidents occurred on Monday (7th April)

The first took place at a property in Woodhatch Road, Redhill just after 10 o’clock in the morning.

The second burglary occurred in the evening sometime between 7.15 and 10.20 at a property in Sandes Lane, Leatherhead.

In both cases the occupants were out.

Air Ambulance Called to Merstham

The air ambulance was called to Merstham yesterday (Tuesday 8th April).

A 46-year-old man sustained heat-related injuries to his head and arms and was treated on the scene by the Kent, Sussex and Surrey charity.

The man was taken by road to St George’s Hospital for further treatment.

Redhill Talent Show

Seventy-five young people from across the Borough are due to appear in annual talent show ‘Star for a Night’, held at the Harlequin Theatre Redhill.

The show, run by Reigate and Banstead Council, is designed to give young people the chance to appear on stage and receive free expert training in the lead up to the show.

The theme for this year’s show is ‘RadioCity’ and will feature dance performances and cover songs from One Direction, Jessie J and wil.i.am to be performed by the participants.

Horsham Stalking Man Jailed

A Sussex man who stalked and harassed his ex-partner is now starting an 18-month prison sentence following the recent introduction of a law that makes stalking an explicit offence.

28-year old Kevin Rainbow appeared for sentencing at Lewes Crown Court on Friday 4 April, having previously pleaded guilty to stalking, harassment, criminal damage and common assault.

The amendment to the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 makes stalking involving fear of violence or serious harm or distress a specific offence and was used in the prosecution.

Crawley Car Crash

An 18-year-old man has been seriously injured after his red Ford Fiesta left the A264 in Crawley and collided with a lampost.

The driver suffered a broken hip and coccyx and was taken to the East Surrey Hospital at Redhill for treatment.

The incident occurred at the roundabout junction with Tollgate Hill at 4.18 pm on the 5th of April, police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 986 of 05/04.
