Crawley Firm Lands 2 Large Contracts

Crawley based Thales UK are celebrating after landing two production deals with the Ministry of Defence.

A £271 million deal to support Wildcat helicopters will provide a further boost to the Crawley economy by sustaining highly skilled local jobs.

Subcontractor Thales provides support to communication and aircraft management systems for the Wildcats.

This announcement follows last week’s confirmation that the MOD’s £410 million contract for support for the UK’s Atlas A400M aircraft will also benefit Crawley, with Thales as part of the supply chain.

Gatwick Most Efficient Single Runway Airport

Gatwick Airport has increased its lead as the World’s most efficient single-runway airport with 43 million passengers travelling annually.

3.1 million passengers travelled through the airport in December, which is 15% up on the same month last year

The airport’s long-haul services grew by 26.8% and Gatwick’s cargo increased by 13.3% in metric tonnage.

At the start of the New Year, Gatwick Airport has released details of its biggest growing destination during 2016.

Holiday makers have been inspired by Prince Harry’s travels with Toronto being the long-haul destination with the biggest passenger increase – 97% up on 2015.

Missing Crawley Man

Police are growing concerned for a missing man from Crawley.

John Wright, who’s 30, was last seen on New Years Day (Sunday 1st January) when he left his sister’s address in the Furnace Green area of Crawley.

He hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

John is white, 5′ 10″ and has shoulder length curly brown hair which he wears in a ponytail and a beard.

He was last seen wearing a dark blue hoody and blue or black jeans or tracksuit bottoms. He has tattoos in his hands, fingers and arms.
