Three Arrested in Connection with Crawley Robberies

Three People from Crawley have been arrested in connection with two linked robberies.

The robberies took place on Friday the 17th at around 1.30pm in Arran Close in Broadfield.

A 19-year-old man was set on by two people who stole two phones and his bike. He suffered facial injuries. Later that day At 10.30pm a 24-year-old man was robbed of his phone while at Furnace Green Parade.  He was uninjured.

Two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old  and have been bailed until March 23 while investigations continue.

Oxted Murder Update

Police Update on Oxted Murder

A 17-year-old girl found dead at a property in Amy Road, Oxted, on Friday has been identified as Elizabeth Thomas from West Wickham.

A post-mortem examination carried out yesterday (Sunday, 26 January) gave the cause of her death as a stab wound.

Detectives are investigating into the circumstances surrounding her death and The 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act (1983). He has been transferred to a secure hospital and remains on police bail.

Local Sport Review

A last gasp injury time goal at Rotherham robbed Crawley Town of all three points in their away league one tie on Saturday afternoon. The match ended 2 all with the Reds goals coming from Tubbs and Simpson.

Crystal Palace were dumped out of the FA Cup losing 2 -1 away at Wigan, paving the way for the Eagles to concentrate on their Premier League survival.

Redhill returned to action this week, but lost 3 -1 at Folkstone Invicta. Crawley Down Gatwick were hammered 4 – 1 at home to Burgess Hill Town, while Merstham had an excellent home result beating Eastbourne Town by 5 goals to nil. Finally, not such good news for Horley Town who were beaten 3 -1 at Colliers Wood.

Armed Police Stop Vehicle in Crawley

Three people were arrested in Crawley on Sunday (26th Jan) afternoon after a vehicle was stopped by armed police in London Road.

Officers fired several shots at the vehicle’s tyres in order to stop it, but no one was injured in the incident.

One man was detained on suspicion of attempted murder and another man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of harbouring an offender.

They’re all currently being held at a Surrey Police station.
