The Grassroots Football Debate – Mon 6th June 2016

On Monday 6th June, we welcomed five non league managers to the Susy Radio studios for the biggest grass roots football debate of the year.

Hayden Bird led Merstham to a tenth place finish in their first season in the Ryman Isthmian Premier League, as well winning the Surrey County Cup.

Marc White took his Dorking Wanderers side to a second place finish in their first season in Ryman Isthmian Division One, finally losing in the playoff semi-finals.

Anthony Jupp developed record goalscorer Ashley Nadesan, and saw his team finish sixth in the Combined Counties League.

Junior Kadi coached Dulwich Hamlet as they finished fifth in the Ryman Isthmian Premier League.

Paul Walker completed his 2nd year as manager of Crawley Wasps Ladies team as they celebrate their 25th anniversary.

We were also joined by Bob Dick from the Surrey Football Association as we talked scouting, tactics, youth development, facilities and funding.

Here’s the show if you missed it:

Ambulances Destroyed By Fire At East Surrey Hospital

Three ambulances have been destroyed in a fire outside the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.

The fire started in a parked ambulance outside the east entrance to the Hospital before spreading to the other two vehicles.

Huge plumes of black smoke could be seen rising into the air at the height of the fire.

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said there were no patients involved and everyone was safe.

The hospital was closed to emergencies, and patients diverted through the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Fire crews, who were called out at 2:20pm on Monday afternoon, managed to bring the fire under control and the hospital re-opened shortly after 6pm

Councils Urge You To Register To Vote In EU Referendum

With the EU referendum fast approaching, local councils in Sussex and Surrey are urging residents to register to vote by the 7 June deadline.

If you’re already registered to vote, you do not need to register again.

The referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union will take place on Thursday 23 June 2016.

A voting guide – which has been delivered to every UK household over the past week – contains important information for voters on how to register to vote, how to cast their vote and arguments from the lead campaigners for the ‘Remain’ and ‘Leave’ side.

There’s more information online at aboutmyvote.co.uk.
