Easter Flights From Gatwick

This Easter holidays,Gatwick Airport will fly to 90% of the destinations it offered passengers during the same period in 2019.

The airport will serve 177 destinations this Easter, compared to 197 in the same period in 2019, with total flight volumes recovering to 86%.

The most popular destinations include Barcelona, Dublin and Malaga, while Dubai, New York and Orlando top the long-haul charts.

Gatwick’s busiest day for departures is expected to be 6 April, while Easter Monday is predicted to be the busiest day overall.

East Grinstead Meridian By-Election

West Sussex County Council has announced the candidate  for the East Grinstead Meridian by-election.

The by-election to fill the vacancy for a county councillor for the area will be held on the 4 May 2023.

Due to new rules, voters must bring photo ID in order to vote at polling stations

Southwater Car Theft

Police in Sussex are investigating the theft of two cars from a property in Southwater.

The vehicles – a red VW Polo and a grey BMW – were safely parked in York Close at 10pm on March 29 but were found to be missing the next morning.

It is thought the suspects entered the property and stole the keys to both cars before driving them away.

Officers investigating the burglary are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.

Biker Down Workshop

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service have launched a new “Biker Down” workshop as part of Motorcycle Awareness Week.

A series of events will be taking place across the county, including one at Horley Fire Station on the 20th April and 29th June.

Motorcycles account for around 5% of vehicles on the road, yet nearly a quarter of all individuals killed and seriously injured are riding a motorbike.

The workshops are designed to aid bikers should they find themselves in a situation of need and provide vital first aid training to other road users.

Details of the workshops, which run between 6pm and 10pm are below:

As part of Motorcycle Awareness Week, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service will also be promoting biker safety, including motorcycle maintenance and safety clothing advice, at the following locations:

  • Destination Triumph, Pulborough: Tuesday 4 April, 10am – 2pm
  • Alf’s Motorcycles, Worthing – Tuesday 4 April, 10am – 2pm
  • Chalet Café, Horsham: Wednesday 5 April, 10am – 2pm
  • Whiteway’s Lodge, Bury Hill: Thursday 6 April, 10am – 2pm

Crawley Warm Hubs

New figures have revealed less than 60 people made use of the warm hubs in Crawley.

Six hubs were opened in community centres throughout the winter at a cost of nearly £18,000.

Questions are being asked as to whether the hubs had been the best use of taxpayer’s money.

The funds used had gone into the hiring of venues, staff overtime, catering and other expenses.
