Fatal collision in Crawley

A man has died in a collision in Crawley.

The 22 year-old from Furnace Green was a passenger in a silver Toyota Starlet that crashed into a tree on Crawley Avenue Friday evening.

The driver of the car, a 21 year-old man from Three Bridges, was taken by ambulance to Royal Sussex County Hospital having sustained serious leg injuries.

He is in a serious but stable condition.

Wanted Man may be in Redhill

Police are hoping members of the public can help locate a prisoner who has links to Redhill.

29 year-old Lloyd Ernest Edwards is wanted on recall to prison after he failed to comply with the strict conditions of his probation licence.

He is described as white, around 5ft 7” tall, of a stocky build, with short brown hair and has an England tattoo on his neck and a gold tooth.

Oxted Cigarette Thief convicted

A man has been handed a 4-year prison sentence and ordered to hand over nearly £5,000 in cash for a string of store break-ins and cigarette thefts across several counties.

37 year-old Jamie Channon was part of an organised crime group that targeted a number of convenience stores and petrol stations.

They would typically force entry using crowbars and steal large quantities of cigarettes in duvet covers which the group brought with them.

The estimated total value of the haul was £60,000 which included nearly £3,000 from a petrol station in Church Lane, Oxted back in February.

Limpsfield By-election Results

The Oxted and Limpsfield Residents’ Group has gained a second seat on Tandridge District Council following Thursday’s by-election in Limpsfield.  

Phil Davies of the Oxted and Limpsfield Residents’ Group took the seat from the Conservatives with 713 votes.  The Conservatives were in second place with 472 votes.  

Phil Davies joins Jackie Wren, who gained the seat for the Oxted North and Tandridge Ward at the local elections in May this year.
