Nominations are open to recognise the work of staff across the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

Patients, staff and service users are all invited to put forward individuals or teams who have gone beyond expectations and are inspirations to others.

There are 9 categories in the SASH Star Awards which reflect the Trust’s values.

The deadline for nominations is September 9th.

From 8th – 11th September fascinating buildings within the District will be opening their doors to the public.

The theme for this year is ‘Lives and Landscapes’ and as part of the festivities Dorking’s Deepdene Trail is holding its Grand Opening following a grant of over £1 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

This weekend three-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome will be taking to Surrey’s roads.

The 31 year-old will race in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic for Team Sky.

Roads involved in the route on Sunday including those through Westcott, Dorking, Box Hill, and Leatherhead, will be closed from 5am through to 7pm on 31st July.

A new campaign has been launched by West Sussex County Council to keep the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service within its control.

The Council officially launched ‘Safer in Our Hands’ at a full County Council meeting last week.  This was in response to plans by the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner’s office to look at taking over the service.  

The Council feels the service is democratically accountable and believes that the model they are operating in West Sussex is the right one for its community.
