Landowners Fined for Unauthorised Gatwick Parking

Owners of a property in Horley have been fined almost £5,000 following a successful planning enforcement prosecution by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.

The residential property with large muddy fields off Harrowsley Green Lane had been used for unauthorised airport parking.  David and Eliza Flitton had allowed their land to be illegally used by Britannia Airport Parking, also known as Easy Parking Gatwick.

The Council served a temporary stop notice, requiring the parking activity to stop immediately but Mr and Mrs Flitton did not comply.  Over 500 vehicles were parked in breach of planning control.

Surrey Targets Anti-Social Behaviour

This coming Monday sees the start of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week.

Members of Surrey Police, borough councils, Surrey County Council and housing providers will work together in an attempt to ensure issues affecting victims are dealt with.

The main aim is to help the perpetrators understand the impact of their actions on others and if mediation does not solve the issues then culprits could find themselves handed warning letters, fixed penalty notices and even prosecution.

During the week events will be taking place throughout Surrey ranging from a drop-in surgery in Dorking to active patrols in Redhill town centre and the launch of a youth engagement project.

A one-stop-shop Anti-Social Behaviour information website is now available at http://www.surreycommunitysafety.org.uk
