Ten Charged In Second week Fo Operation Dragonfly

Ten people have been charged in the second week of Operation Dragonfly, the crackdown on drink and drug-driving in Sussex and Surrey.

The campaign sees officers out on patrol looking for driving offences and behaviour behind the wheel that may be caused by the  driver’s taking intoxicating substances.

Surrey Police is pro-actively releasing the names of those who have been charged.

Along with the ten people charged, a further eight have been arrested for drink or drug driving related offences.

Phone Scam In Tandridge Area

A council tax phone scam is once again operating in the Tandridge area.

Elderly residents are being called by someone claiming to work for Tandridge District Council. They are offering the resident a reduced council tax band and a refund if they pay a £65 fee.

They are then asked for their bank details. So far one resident has paid the fee.

Tandridge District Council press to say that they would never ask residents for bank details.

Business Leader Take Letter To Downing Street Over Gatwick Expansion

Business leaders from 36 organisations in the South East are taking a letter to Downing Street arguing the case for expansion at Gatwick Airport.

They said a second runway would create tens of thousands of jobs and add £1.7bn a year to the local economy.

Campaigners against the expansion have said that it would cause “unacceptable” levels of pollution.

The government is due to make a final decision whether Gatwick or Heathrow should expand this summer.

Four Murder Suspects Released On Bail

The four people from Crawley who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A 24 and a 22-year-old woman and two 20-year-old men, have been bailed until 9 August.

It comes after the murder of Sam Caulfield from Mayfield, who was found with a serious injury in Crawley. He later died in hospital.

Family Pay Tribute To Sam Caulfield

The family of Sam Caulfield, have payed tribute to the 20 year old after he was killed on Saturday.

His family said that Sam was always smiling and looking out for people and he is going to be so deeply missed.

Police were called to Spencers Road in Crawley at around 3am on the 18 June.

Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team arrested four local people on suspicion of murder.
