Earlswood Murder Investigation Continues

Surrey Police continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body at a house in Earlswood.  Officers were called to an address in Wimborne Avenue on Thursday evening where the woman was found.  Although formal identification has not taken place, the body is believed to be that of 38 year old Dawn Rhodes.  

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital for treatment.  He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.  Police believe this to be an isolated incident.

 

Crawley Wasps LFC Open Trials

Crawley Wasps Ladies’ Football Club will be holding two open trials as they seek fresh talent for the new season.  The sessions will take place on Sunday 12th June from 11 am to 1 pm, and Wednesday 15th June from 7 to 9 pm at Ewhurst playing fields in Ifield.  

Wasps’ first team play in the London and South East Regional Premier Division.  The reserves play in the South East Counties Women’s Football League.  Last season both of the Wasps’ Ladies teams reached their respective Sussex County Cup finals.

Epsom Derby Fracas

Two people were injured following an incident at the Investec Derby Festival in Epsom on Saturday.  Eleven men were arrested in connection with the incident, some of whom were from Caterham, Reigate and Croydon.  They remain in custody while enquiries continue.  

Officers responded to a disturbance at the event which involved bottles being thrown near to the main music stage at around         6.15 pm.  A police officer had a tooth knocked out and was taken to hospital for treatment for facial injuries.  An 18 year old man was treated for head and facial injuries at the scene.  

Officers are trying to identify potential witnesses from CCTV.  They ask anyone who filmed the incident on mobile phones to contact them.  Witnesses should call Surrey Police on 101.

Dogs To Help PTSD Sufferers

A Sussex Police sergeant has set up a programme to train rescue dogs to support Army veterans and former emergency service workers suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Sgt Garry Botterill’s charity, Service Dogs UK, says the animals can help reduce anxiety in people who have PTSD.

The charity is hoping the scheme will be rolled out across the UK.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Earlswood Murder

A murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of the body of a woman in Earlswood yesterday (June 2).

Officers were called to an address in Wimborne Avenue just after 7:30 in the evening where the body was found.

A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at this time.
