Play Area In Godstone

Children living in Godstone will soon be given a new reason to get out and play, as work begins on the Hunters Chase play area in South Godstone.

The new playground will be installed by Eibe Play, which won the process in the spring and its plan will provide a range of different pieces of play equipment so children of all ages can play.

New surfacing will cover a larger area so equipment can still be used in wet weather.

Work on the park will begin in the first week of July and is expected to take four weeks to complete.

KSSAAT To Remain At Redhill Aerodrome

The South East’s air ambulance is to continue flying from its current bases in Surrey and Kent.

Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust (KSSAAT) said it will stay at Redhill Aerodrome.

It has withdrawn a planning application to develop a new hangar at Old Hay Airfield near Paddock Wood in Kent.

The trust said it had been offered the larger hangar 10 at Redhill for its two helicopters.

Armed Forces Day In Crawley

This year’s Armed Forces Day event will place on Saturday 25 June in Memorial Gardens in Crawley.

Armed Forces Day helps raise awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

It also gives the nation an opportunity to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces, from currently serving troops to service families and from veterans to cadets.

Between 10am and 1pm there will be displays from armed forces personnel along with entertainment including live music from local singer Eve Lily Ozmen, Pound Hill Junior School Choir and Crawley Millennium Concert Band. There will also be arts and crafts workshop and soldier for the day activities.

Day Of Action Against Drugs On Cromwell Estate

The safer neighbourhood team in Redhill teamed up with Raven Housing Trust in a day of action, on the Cromwell Estate (2 June).

The operation formed part of an on-going campaign to tackle drugs related violence in the community.

Surrey Police drugs dog were used to carry out a thorough sweep of the area and officers searched nearby woods and a disused building. No drugs were found but officers did discover and seized a number of items in the building.

Staff from Raven Housing Trust and local officers also chatted to residents and handed out crime stopper leaflets on the day.

Susy At Horley Carnival

Horley’s Carnival takes place tomorrow. Starting at 12;30 in the afternoon the procession makes its way through the town to the recreation ground.

More floats will be taking part in this year’s procession, and Susy Radio 103.4 will be taking part in both the procession and the events in the ground, broadcasting live during the day

The theme for this year’s Horley Carnival is ‘Through the Ages and Beyond’ and the fancy dress competition will take place during the procession.

You can expect live music, food stalls, a circus workshop, crafts and games, birds of prey and a funfair. Entry to the Carnival is free.
