Money stolen in distraction theft in Oxted

Thieves using distraction techniques targeted a woman in Oxted.

The victim withdrew money from a bank and walked back to her car in Station Road West.

As she was getting into her vehicle a man approached, asking for directions.  While the victim was engaged in conversion, a second man reached inside the car and took the envelope containing the money.

Man from Sussex extradited from Malta

Following international cooperation a man from Sussex has been jailed over sex offences.

Roderick MacDonald, also known as Robinson, was handed over to police at Gatwick Airport after being extradited from Malta under the terms of a European Arrest Warrant.

The 77 year-old pleaded guilty to three offences of failing to comply with notification requirements while a registered sex offender.

MacDonald was sentenced to 44 months imprisonment.

Car stolen from Driveway in Northgate

An investigation has been launched into a series of burglaries in Crawley.

Four houses were broken into during the night of Wednesday 11th into Thursday 12th November.

Two incidents occurred in Boundary Close; one in Crosspath and one in Kilnmead – all in the Northgate area of Crawley.

Laptops, phones, tablets and watches were taken from three addresses.  A black Toyota Yaris was stolen from the driveway of one of the properties after the car-keys were stolen from inside the house.

Gymnastics coach jailed after indecent assault in Horsham

A gymnastics coach has been handed a prison sentence after being found guilty of indecent assault.

50 year-old Martin O’Hara was sentenced to a total of six years imprisonment over eight counts of sexual offences whilst working as a freelance gymnast coach between 1993 and 2001.

The two girls from Horsham were aged between 12 and 15 at the time of the assaults.
