Southern Train Strikes Cause Disruption

Southern Train services are suffering from disruption and cancellation as conductor go on strike today.

This is the third strike over dispute about the introduction of driver-only trains.

Southern operator Govia Thameslink said it would implement a new role for conductors from 21 August, with them no longer opening and closing doors.

It’s advised that you check your train journeys before you travel as some services are not running and others have limited service.

The P&G Surrey Youth Games

The 20th P&G Surrey Youth Games took place over the weekend at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.  All eleven districts and boroughs in Surrey entered teams into fourteen different sporting events.  The Games were organised by Active Surrey in association with each borough and district council in the county with the aim to develop sport in Surrey.  Young people attend local coaching sessions in the two months prior to the Games.  It is hoped that having been introduced to countywide competition, many will continue in their chosen sports.

Our local teams from Reigate and Banstead and from Tandridge did well at the event, as Izzie Brooks reports:
