Compulsory Purchase Orders for Horley development

Landowners, residents and businesses on the outskirts of Horley could be forced to sell up and move after the Executive of Reigate and Banstead Borough Council agreed in principle to the use of Compulsory Purchase Powers.

70 hectares located to the north of the M23, close to Gatwick and land transport links are the proposed site of a new business park. Current businesses on the site, such as the Jai Ho restaurant on Balcombe Road, could be forced to move on.

The development would be delivered over a 10-year period.

Full reports would be required before the Compulsory Purchase Orders could be called into action.  The powers would only be used if negotiations between all parties concerned are unsuccessful.
