Man stabbed in Crawley

An investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in Crawley.

Police were called to The Boulevard at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon.  They believe the victim was known to his attackers and it is thought the offenders left the scene along the alleyway joining Northgate Road.

The 37 year old was taken to East Surrey Hospital for treatment to the wound in his leg.

Sussex Man Extradited from Malta

A European Arrest Warrant has been used to extradite a Sussex man from Malta.

Following a multi-agency operation 77 year-old Roderick MacDonald was handed over by Maltese authorities to Sussex officers in Malta before being flown back into Gatwick Airport.

MacDonald, who also goes by the name Robinson, pleaded guilty to failing to notify foreign travel before leaving the UK; failing to notify change of name, and failing to notify change of address.  It follows his conviction back in 2012 for crimes which required his life-long registration as a sex offender.

Crime Summit comes to Oxted

A crime summit is being held in Oxted.

Residents of Tandridge are invited to attend the event which will provide an insight into Surrey Police over the past year and outline how the force is planning to respond to changes in demand.

Local policing will also be discussed and those attending will be able to raise issues affecting them.

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee will be hosting the event with Kevin Hurley, Surrey Police and Crime Commissioner, attending.  District Inspector Dan Gutierrez and East Surrey Superintendent for Operations, Clive Davies, will also be present.

The summit is being held Tuesday evening 3rd November at the Council Offices.

Crawley promotes volunteering

A new monthly drop-in centre at Crawley Town Hall is helping to recruit volunteers.

Shelley Jones, a Co-ordinator at Crawley Community and Voluntary Service, runs the sessions which take place the first Monday of each month from 10am.

Anyone interested in volunteering can get general information and advice as well as a list of opportunities and organisations looking for volunteers.
